Natural Gas Production and Services AAS

Do you want a career where there are well-paying jobs available both in Pennsylvania and across the country? Are you willing to work hard - both in your classes while in school and on the job when you graduate? Do you want our natural gas resources to be developed in a responsible manner? Does the idea of a two-year degree program appeal to you? Would it be even better if you had the option of seamlessly transferring into a four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degree should you later decide to further your education? If you answered yes to these questions, then Mansfield's Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Natural Gas Production and Services may be just what you are looking for.

This program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions associated with both the natural gas industry and government agencies. It emphasizes the acquisition of practical skills and knowledge. Starting with a common core of classes, the degree offers five specialized tracks to choose from:

  1. Permitting and Inspection
  2. Mudlogging/Geologic Technician
  3. Environmental Technician
  4. GIS Technician
  5. Safety Management

Each of these tracks has been identified by industry and government representatives as an area of need.

All graduates must complete a set of foundational courses in Geology, Geography, Math, Composition and Oral Communication. More specialized courses in the various tracks include Environmental Permitting, Wetland Identification and Management, Principles of Mudlogging, Mineralogy/Petrology, Hydrology, Watershed Management, GIS/GPS, Computer Aided Design, Safety Management and Critical Incident Management.

If this program appeals to you, and if you are willing to work hard to achieve your goals, then WE are interested in YOU. For further information contact Dr. Christopher Kopf ( or our Admissions staff at (570-662-4243 or 800-577-6826).
